Meeting at Frenchman Bay
Description
40 x 30 inches, acrylic, metallic leaf on canvas
After we stayed at the Russell place on the red granite cliffs overlooking the Prospect Harbor lighthouse, and after we visited the newly constructed Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, this painting of the French ship and the giant violins emerged.
Although it is based on small watercolors I painted in Maine, the Frenchmen seem to relate that indeed the French were there before the British. The sky reflects the drama that often occurs during the day over Mt. Desert Island.
